1. Establish a designated place to do homework/school work WITHOUT TV interruptions.
2. Homework must come before play-but after a healthy snack.
3. Supervise ALL homework/schoolwork.
4. Begin learning spelling words for the week on Monday.
5. Count backwards from 19 to 1. Sequence count from 3 to 30, 4 to 40, 5 to 50, and 10 to 100.
6. READ, READ, READ, daily-even through tears and screams.
7. Increase things to memorize-stories, poems, songs, scriptures.
8. DO NOT SCOLD children for not remembering words and math facts.
9. Assist the child in finding the correct answer. DO NOT STOP working until the task has been completed.
Mrs. Weathers is a professional educator with over 40 years experience as a teacher and administrator in public and private schools. She has Bachelors of Arts in English, Religion and Sociology from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and a Masters of Education from Texas Christian University. She has also done post-graduate work at the University of North Texas and Texas Women’s University.
